The Department of Education, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 11(1), (2)(3A), and Article 14(1) of and paragraphs 1 and 13 of Schedule 3 to the Superannuation (Northern Ireland) Order 1972[1], and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, and after consultation with representatives of education and library boards, and of teachers and with such representatives of other persons likely to be affected as required by Article 11(5) of that Order, and with the consent of the Department of Finance and Personnel[2], hereby makes the following Regulations: Citation and commencement 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Teachers' Superannuation (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 31st March 2003 and shall have effect on and from 2nd November 1998. Amendment of the principal Regulations 2. In Regulation G3 of the Teachers' Superannuation Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998[3] sub-paragraph (f) shall be deleted. Sealed with the Official Seal of the Department of Education on 7th March 2003. L.S.
(This note is not part of the Regulations.) These Regulations amend the Teachers' Superannuation Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 ("the 1998 Regulations"). Under Part G of those Regulations, the Department of Education is required to prepare a Teachers' Superannuation Account. Regulation G3 specifies certain sums which must be debited to that Account. Among the sums so specified are increases paid under the Pensions (Increase) Act (Northern Ireland) 1971. These sums are in fact payable directly out of the Exchequer and so were included under regulation G3 in error. These Regulations correct that error.
