The 11-plus examination is to end with the last Transfer Tests taking place in November 2008. Thereafter, pupils will transfer to post-primary schools on the basis of informed parental choice.

The consultation on new admissions arrangements for post-primary schools closed on 30 June 2005. Over 14,000 responses have been received. The Minister will publish a summary report on the responses and make an announcement on the way forward in December.
