Education Maintenance Allowance Scheme - Public Consultation

The Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) and the Department of Education (DE) have published consultation proposals in relation to the future of the Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) Scheme.

The purpose of the consultation was to seek views on a range of options for the future structure of the scheme.  It follows a formal review which was jointly commissioned by DEL and DE to ascertain whether the scheme is continuing to meet its original objectives.

DEL is collating the responses to the consultation which closed on Friday, 2 November 2012.  The responses are currently being considered and the outcome of these considerations will appear here in due course.
