Pupil Support Programmes

Programmes are in place to improve educational outcomes for specific groups of pupils, for example, School Age Mothers, children in care, and young offenders.

School Age Mothers (SAM)

The School Age Mothers Report 2003/04 PDF 124 KB summarises the provision for pregnant girls and mothers aged 13-18 throughout Northern Ireland during the 2003/04 academic year.  The provision is funded directly by the Department of Education through Executive Programme Funds. The report also includes comments from those involved in the service.

Looked After Children (LAC)

The Children (NI) Order 1995 states that a 'looked after' child is one ‘who is in the care of a Trust or who is provided with accommodation by a Trust’.
