The Department of Education (DE) Research briefings are designed to provide attractive, interesting and easy access to research findings for policy makers, researchers, teachers, lecturers, employers and the public to facilitate informed discussion of educational issues.

RSM McClure Watters (formerly FGS McClure Watters)was commissioned by the Department of Education to undertake a Needs Assessment and Feasibility Study for the Development of High Level Diagnostic Tools in Irish for Children with Special Educational Needs in the Irish Medium Sector. The aims of the research were to identify and define the exact need for high level diagnostic tools in Irish; and assess the technical, operational and economic feasibility of the development of such tools, through examination of existing models and research.

RSM McClure Watters was commissioned by the Department to undertake research into improving attendance in schools serving deprived areas. The aim of the research was to provide DE with information that will inform policy and practice in those schools with low attendance rates to help them in improving attendance.
