The EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and The Border Region of Ireland 2000 - 2004 (PEACE II)

Main objective

To tackle the problems of the legacy of the conflict and seize the new opportunities arising from peace.

The PEACE II Programme is a distinctive EU Structural Funds Programme aimed at reinforcing progress towards a more peaceful and stable society and to promote reconciliation. The programme runs from 2000-2004 and will receive €425m.

The Department of Education is responsible for four measures under the Programme:

Responsibility for the delivery of Measure 2.2 and  Measure 2.8 has been delegated to the Youth Education Social Inclusion Partnership (YESIP). Further information can be found on the YESIP website

Measure 5.5 is jointly delivered with the Department of Education and Science in Dublin.
