1997/28	Physical and mental fitness of teachers to teach in Institutions of Further Education PDF 68 KB The Circular gives guidance on the assessment procedures for those concerned with the physical and mental fitness to teach of intending and serving teachers. It also outlines procedures for physical and mental assessment while in service as a teacher. Specific advice is given on particular diseases and disorders.
1997/27	Post entry training for teachers in Further Education (FE) PDF 21 KB The Further Education Teachers’ (Eligibility) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997 require that every person employed, as a teacher must have such qualifications as may be approved by the Department. This circular updates those teacher-training requirements in the light of the change to the law from 1 October 1997 to end the requirement for new teachers to serve successfully a statutory probationary period.
