Chief Inspector of the Education and Training Inspectorate
Marion Matchett, Chief Inspector of the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI), heads an organisation which provides inspection services for the Department of Education (DE), the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL) and the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL).
Marion joined the Department of Educations Inspectorate in 1983 and was District Inspector in South Down and then South Armagh. She was the first woman phase staff inspector within the Inspectorate; in 1994 she joined the management team, with special responsibility for staff development, pre-school and primary education.
She was the first woman to become Chief Inspector and since her appointment she has re-structured the Inspectorate in the interests of efficiency and effectiveness, continued to develop good working relationships with key stakeholders and has promoted effective links with Inspectorates across Europe.
