Consultation on Review of Literacy and Numeracy Strategy
Further to 'Every School a Good School' policy the Department of Education
has undertaken a review of its current Literacy and Numeracy programme. The findings of this review
and proposals for the way forward have now opened for consultation.
The consultation runs from 23 June 2008 to 30 November 2008. The
consultation paper which is entitled, 'Every School a Good School – A Strategy for Raising Achievement
in Literacy and Numeracy' and the consultation response document can be viewed using the links below:

for the proposals for 'Every School a Good School: – A Strategy for Raising Achievement in Literacy
and Numeracy'.
Under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 the Department is
required to have due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity. In order to determine
whether an Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) is necessary, all policies must be screened.
The results of the Department’s screening process indicated the need
for an EQIA to be carried out. The document entitled Every School a Good School: – A Strategy
