eSchools Data Warehouse
The eSchools data warehouse became operational from September 2009.
This secure on-line warehouse stores data collected electronically from the management information systems of schools and education and library boards. The stored data will be used to update a range of business systems across the boards, to produce a range of standard and customised reports for schools and to provide the basis for the annual schools census carried out by the Department of Education.
The data warehouse provides schools with on-line access to current data which will assist them with self-evaluation and school improvement, enable them to obtain performance information and identify trends, and compare themselves with other similar schools.
Research evidence demonstrates that the availability of data for use at system, school and individual teacher level is critical to raising standards. eSchools brings together all the relevant streams of data, thus meeting the need for a shared source of data which is easily accessible and uses common data standards.
