Shadow Year

The Department approved an arrangement whereby a number of schools carried out assessment in the 2011/12 school year using revised Levels of Progression (LoPs) in Communication and Using Mathematics, due to become statutory for all schools in the 2012/13 school year

The revised LoPs replace the current statutory arrangements for end of Key Stage assessments. Schools’ participation in the ‘Shadow Year’ enabled CCEA and DE to test a number of important aspects of the operation of the revised arrangements as well as to develop models of good practice for dissemination across the wider school system.
