Annex 4 Support for Institutional Change:School Improvement

The Empowering Schools Report outlines key milestones which aim to help schools and other stakeholders identify where their main responsibility for making progress lies, and to undertake action planning. This particular extract relates to Annex 4 and should be read in conjunction with the other annexes.  The key milestones for Annex 4 are:

All education partners (The Boards’ Curriculum Advisory and Support Services, the General Teaching Council, the Initial Teaching community, CCEA, the Regional Training Unit, CCMS, CnaG and the Education and Training Inspectorate) play a central role in helping schools to draw up, implement and evaluate their plans to become emPowering Schools.

Development is needed on a range of fronts:

13    capacity-building within the professional development community;

14    supporting critical reflection and sharing of instances of new practice with ICT across the education service;

15    reviewing teacher competence and developing teachers professionally in the 21st century.
