Annex 3 Leadership Development and Teacher Competence

The Empowering Schools Report outlines key milestones which aim to help schools and other stakeholders identify where their main responsibility for making progress lies, and to undertake action planning.This particular extract relates to Annex 3 and should be read in conjunction with the other annexes.  The key milestones for Annex 3 are:

In the context of its development plans, the school’s post-NOF agenda ought to address the development of:

9    the school leaders’ roles, supported through technology;

10    professional ICT competence for all staff (which includes classroom and learning assistants, those who work in libraries, and technicians, who should all be able to support teachers with ICT) and the application of those skills to enhance and support teaching and learning in the classroom;

11    professional efficiency and productivity, by using technology to reduce bureaucratic burdens;

12    the capacity to use online resources and tools to enhance teaching and learning and to support professional development through collaborative online communities.
