An evaluation of the Craigavon Two-Tier System RB 6/1998 PDF 81 KB
The purpose of the research was to compare the experiences of pupils in the traditional 11+ system with pupils in the alternative 'Dickson Plan' System in operation in the Craigavon Area. The research focused on the academic performance of pupils and the relative pressures they faced in school, and tried to assess the extent to which schools in the two-tier system were able to take advantage of their position outside the particular pressures created by the 11+ system.

The purpose of the study was to provide data on the status and form of special educational needs provision prior to the introduction of the Code of Practice on the Identification and Assessment of Special Educational Needs (DENI, 1996), and to establish a baseline against which the impact of the Code might be evaluated.

Science at key stage 4 RB 2/1998 PDF 300 KB
This study was conducted over the period from September 1993 to June 1996 and followed the first, second and third cohorts of pupils into or through Science at Key Stage 4. The research had 2 distinct strands: a statistical survey, across Northern Ireland, of the provision and uptake of science courses at Key Stage 4 and an in-depth study, in 30 schools, of the implementation of these programmes.
