Statistical assessments
Under the Code of Practice for Offical Statistics, statistics produced by the Department are subject to regular review and assessment. Details of recent assessments are listed below.
The annual publication from the census, on enrolments at schools and in funded pre-school education, underwent assessment by the United Kingdon Statistics Authority in June 2009. The report below was produced as a result of the assessment.
Actions resulting from requirements specified in the assessment are outlined in the action plan produced by the Department.
Other statistics: on pupil attendance, pupil performance, leavers' destinations and teacher workforce, produced by the Department underwent assessment by the Statistics Authority in autumn 2009 in conjunction with assessments conducted on education statistics in the other regions of the United Kingdom. The report below was produced as a result of the assessment.

Prior to the establishment of the United Kindom Statistics authority , statistics classed as 'National Statistics' were required to undergo a quality review every five years.
