English or Irish is not our first language
Your child will be educated in the language of their teacher – English or Irish
You may hear them called a newcomer pupil. This just means they need extra help to learn the language spoken in the classroom so they can take part in all of school life.
The Inclusion and Diversity Service (IDS) was set up to help schools, children and you whilst families get used to the new culture and language here.
IDS can also arrange interpreters for some school meetings.
The IDS website gives some of the school letters and policies in many different languages including Polski, Latviski, Tagalog, Portugues.
