Irish Medium and Integrated Education Branch

Irish Medium and Integrated Education Branch is primarily a policy Branch and, in common with the rest of the Division, we are busy. We are responsible for 2 main areas of activity:-

  • Developing policy on the provision of integrated education, including discharging the Department’s responsibility to encourage and facilitate integrated education through funding the Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education (NICIE); and
  • Developing policy on the provision of Irish-medium education and the encouragement and facilitation of education in the sector through funding the Council for Irish-medium Education, Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta (CnaG).
