School Holidays 2011/12

Fixed school term dates for pupils in Northern Ireland are:

• Schools start back after summer holidays on 1 September 2011
• Halloween 31 October – 1 November 2011
• Christmas/New Year 22 December 2011 - 2 January 2012 (inclusive)
• Mid-term 16 - 17 February 2012
• St Patrick's 19 March 2012*
• Easter 5 – 13 April 2012
• May Day 7 May 2012
• Second May Bank Holiday plus 60th Jubilee 4 - 5 June 2012
• Summer holiday begins 2 July 2012

* Not all schools close on St Patrick's Day.

Schools also have the discretion to close for 5 Optional Days which are likely to differ from school to school. Schools may also close for School Development Days of which 5 are available from 2010/11 to 2014/15.
