School Age Mothers
The first School Age Mothers (SAM) Project was piloted in 1999 in response to concerns about the needs of pregnant or parenting young women of school age.
The SAM Programme as it stands today evolved out of the Strategy Framework for Education of School Age Mothers 1997.PDF.72KB
The aim of the programme is to support young women of school age, who are pregnant or parenting, to continue in compulsory education and beyond if this is appropriate.
The programme operates in each Education and Library Board area and is based within the Education Welfare Service.
Details of the support available, frequently asked questions and useful contacts are available in our leaflet Your Essential Guide to SAM.PDF.404KB
