Circular 2007/01 Acceptable Use of the Internet and Digital Technologies in Schools PDF 156 KB draws attention to a range of guidance on the safe use of the internet and digital technologies in schools. The guidance is organised as follows:
Management Responsibilities in Schools. This section covers guidance on whole school safe and effective use of programmes. It also contains advice on managing and reporting incidents and securing evidence of misuse.
Code of Safe Practice for Safe and Effective Use. You will find information here on best practice codes for schools, pupils, staff and parents as well as legal monitoring and filtering of non-Classroom 2000 (C2k) services.
Education in Safe and Effective Practices deals with Internet safety education for pupils, parents/guardians, school governors and community use of school ICT resources.
Health and Safety explores safe location and supervision of computers in schools, ergonomics, interactive whiteboards and mobile phone safety.
Digital Publishing and Software Licensing This section communicates guidance on publishing images on school websites and offers advice on how to deal with obscene publications. It also looks at copyright issues.
