The Department began a process in 2008 to gather information and evidence for use in developing the Priorities. The Department issued 3 questionnaires to -

  • Managers in youth or relevant childrens settings

Over 800 responses to this part of the process were received and independently analysed. The findings of these questionnaires can be accessed by clicking on the links below -

In order to ensure that the Department accessed views from a broad cross section of the sector, Youthnet, an umbrella organisation for the voluntary youth sector, also sought views in particular from organisations and individuals representing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, Minority Ethnic, Irish Medium Sector, Uniformed Sector, Creative Arts, Rural Communities, and Deprived Urban areas.

A total of 1294 children and young people responded to this part of the process and a report of the findings can be accessed by clicking on the following link-

In addition, the Youth Forum targeted young people who were not currently using the youth service and those children and young people that may be considered marginalised or socially excluded. A total of 939 young people responded and the report can be accessed on the following links
