The Teachers Pay and Conditions of Service Inquiry - Interim Report,Principal and Vice-principal pay PDF 1.14 MB Recommended that Principals and Vice-principals salary ranges related to school size and type.  The recommendations were implemented during Spring 2003 and resulted in arrears payments to a significant number of Principals and Vice-principals, who were previously being paid at a pay point lower than the minimum of the pay range recommended by the Inquiry.

Was issued in June 2003 and considered the salary and conditions of service for all teachers.  Eligible teachers progressed from point 1 to point 2 of the Upper Pay Scale from 1 September 2003, and from point 2 to point 3 from September 2005, following agreement on a Performance Review and Staff Development scheme (PRSD), which commenced in schools in September 2005.

Covers workload/bureaucratic burden issues.  The report makes a number of recommendations, which if implemented, would place significant demand upon the education budget.  There is, however issues in the report that can be addressed through alternate and innovative ways of working and the former Minister has asked the Teachers Salaries and Conditions of Service Committee (Schools) to consider what could be progressed, without additional funding, based on the benefits to children.He also stated his commitment to pressing again for additional resources at the earliest opportunity.

Publishes the results of a questionnaire which all serving teachers  had the opportunity to complete to identify issues that may impact on their health and well-being and, where appropriate, to develop strategies to encourage healthier working practices.
