Appointment of member (general interest - teacher) to the Belfast Education and Library Board

The Department of Education invites applications from serving teachers in grant-aided schools for membership of the Belfast Education and Library Board. One post is available and applicants must be serving teachers in grant-aided schools in the Belfast Board area.

Eligibility

The Department encourages applications from serving teachers across all grant-aided school sectors in the Belfast Board.

Time commitment and remuneration

Board Members are expected to make a time commitment of approximately 25 to 30 hours per month, including evening meetings and public occasions. Members receive payments by way of attendance allowances - £22 up to 4 hours and £30.39 more than 4 hours - or financial loss allowances in relation to their Board Member duties.

Term of appointment

The term of the appointment will be for the period until the Education and Skills Authority is established.

Application process

Applicants will be required to complete a short application form demonstrating how they meet the essential criteria for appointment. An eligibility sift of application forms received will be carried out. All eligible candidates will be invited to a 'Conversation with a Purpose' to validate their suitability for the post following which the Minister of Education will decide on who should be appointed.
