The new class will provide support for children with special educational needs within a reasonable travelling distance of their homes.

Commenting on the decision, the Minister said: “A Learning Support Class at Carryduff Primary School will enable children to access educational provision suitable for their needs within acceptable travel times as specified in the Sustainable Schools Policy.

“This approach is in line with my Department’s aim of educating children with special education needs within mainstream settings where possible, ensuring they benefit both educationally and socially.

“I wish the school the very best for the future as they work to establish the new class.”
